THE 10,000KM OF A HUMANIST TRANSBORDER HIKE
DEUX PAS VERS L'AUTRE
AN ADVENTURE BEYOND THE BORDERS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND OUR CONTINENT
THROUGH THE MANIFEST, 7 KEY POINTS TO UNDERSTAND OUR EUROPEAN THRU-HIKE!
Two Steps Towards Others, is above all an incredible European adventure: the human project, sporty and a little crazy to cross Southern Europe on foot with ultralight hiking equipment to meet its inhabitants.
Excluding all means of transportation, our journey on foot has lasted 746 days. We will travel 10,000+km through 16 countries: a unique crossing of Europe during which we will cross no less than a hundred of parks and natural reserves.
What brings together or differentiates these countries with such strong identities? How do we live today in Mediterranean Europe? Will the encounters we make be so easy everywhere?
Through a series of articles, photos and videos, you will live with us the best and the worst of our wanderings
The unique encounter of Man, Technology and Nature.
During 2 years, we documented this experience on the go with the help of the most modern tools.
DEUX PAS VERS L'AUTRE IS AN ASSOCIATION
2PVA is a collective of ultra-light trekking enthusiasts whose objective through a continental Thru-Hike is:
To encourage the practice of walking and to highlight its benefits for the body and the spirit and its eco-responsible dimension.
To promote the natural heritage and to launch actions to raise awareness about the preservation of the environement.
To highlight the cultural, material and immaterial heritage of Europe.
To promote a more modern conception of the relationship between Man and Nature as well as between Nature and Technology.
THE MAIN WALKERS
After several years working for a company, I decided to do what always animated me: to discover and tell the world and its inhabitants.
Photographer and video director for nearly ten years, with 2PVA today I put my skills at the service of my other passions: trekking and travel.
Far from big cities and our comfort zones, our primary objective is to meet the other, this European neighbor of which we know so little and with whom we share a lot yet.
How does he live? What are our differences? What are we like? So many questions that we will find answers to on the way.
Throughout the journey, we invite hikers from all around the world to join us, share with us and enrich this European experience with theirs.
"Walking is always a step towards the other"
THROUGH ALL SOUTHERN EUROPE
Europe can be defined in a thousand ways: economic, political, social... Our definition is above all cultural and geographical. We thru-hiked Southern Europe, the one bordering the Mediterranean Sea and part of the Black Sea, the one of Latin and Slavic languages.
These last years emanate from Europe a will to reconnect with the pedestrian tradition. The opening of long-distance trails such as Via Alpina, Rota Vicentina, Via Dinarica or European trails allows us to connect Sagres to Istanbul almost exclusively by footpaths.
In addition to the cultural richness of a rural Europe, we enjoyed a wild nature by crossing more than 120 parks and natural reserves.
It has often been difficult to make route choices, so the idea of asking for your opinion is naturally born. Every month, you can choose between two variants of our course. Thanks to a GPS system, you will know our position in real time. CHECK THE LAST VOTE
WE MIGHT WALK NEARBY YOU!
If you live on our way and want to share your story or a cup of tea, let us know!
Sharing is above all sharing the voice of all those people we meet on the way, women and men, young and old... and their story.
The mainstay of this ultralight hiking trip being the exchange, it seemed obvious to us to make this experience accessible to the greatest number. Also, we will share our content in our native language, French but also in English.
"Walking, we did not find anything better to go slower"
If walking is a powerful symbol of freedom, it is also a way for us to travel these countries in the simplest possible way and to invite to the sharing.
By excluding all means of transportation, we keept pace with our body and nature and reduce our carbon footprint to a bare minimum.
A PLACE FOR
1KG FOR THE PLANET: In our bags, we carryed up to 1kg of garbage collected along the way until we can throw it away. Thus, throughout our journey, we collected several hundred kilos of garbage abandoned in nature.
Although every gram counts in an adventure like this one, it seemed important to us to benefit from our passage to act for the planet with our means.
In this way, we give a little back to those countries that welcome us and we help to maintain and support Europe's hiking trails.
With 2PVA we want to do more than tell you our adventure, we want to share it.
360 € per month: the average salary in Kosovo.
With 300 euros, the unexpected and the resourcefulness replaced the comfort of our habits.
By living this European experience, we want to show that the most extraordinary adventure can begin on our doorstep.
Where to sleep? What to eat? Are questions that animated us every day.
With 10 € per day and per person, we focus on basic needs.
Rid of the superfluous, we left more room to chance encounters.
